Sekisui Jushi Urban Elements: Fluid Forms for Civic Space

Sekisui Jushi is one of Japan’s largest manufacturers of urban renewal and architectural products, focused on how everyday infrastructure shapes the experience of the city. For this collaboration, a proprietary tube-forming process was used to enable precise, three-dimensional CNC manipulation—opening up a vocabulary of poetic, fluid forms for civic spaces in the Japanese domestic environment.

The resulting pieces move beyond conventional street furniture, introducing a new elegance to the urban streetscape. Soft, continuous geometries and controlled curves create elements that feel simultaneously engineered and sculptural, helping everyday public fixtures blend more naturally into parks, plazas, and pedestrian routes.

The collection’s launch signaled a more considered approach to urban hardware in Japan and was selected as featured work for the Nagaoka Design Fair, endorsed by ICSID, underscoring its design significance on both a national and international stage.
